Biography

Former BAISER (1991 - 1996)

BAISER were formed by vocalist Yukari in May 1991. The first lineup was made of Yukari on vocals, Hiderō on guitar, Akane on synth guitar, and Haiji on bass. They recorded a demo tape titled 墮落 (Daraku) and distributed its 100 copies among friends at a concert at Meguro Rokumeikan. GAZ was recruited as support member and was replaced by AKIHIRO by 1994. The band released a couple of demo tapes and managed to sign a contract to the indies label Monster EP. The debut EP 接吻 (Kuchizuke) hit the stores in June 1994.
Between 1994 and 1995 AKIHIRO left the band and was eventually replaced by Toshimi. BAISER started to get more and more popular in the visual kei scene and the first full length album ASH, supported by an extensive national tour, ranked #2 at the ORICON indies album chart. However, all members except Yukari and Akane announced they would leave the band in January 1996 due to musical differences.

Second BAISER and major debut (1997 - 2001)

The band was put on hold by Yukari in order to find new members in 1996.
Ex-PENICILLIN bassist Shaisuke was invited to join and was followed by ex-SHAZNA drummer Katsura some time later. Katsura then convinced guitarist Mizuki to leave Iris in order to join BAISER, and the lineup was complete between late 1996 and early 1997. However, in the meantime Akane was forced to leave the band as he was asked to succeed his father's job due to a serious illness. Mizuki then recommended Rei, who used to be the vocalist of Iris.
The new BAISER debuted in September 1997 supported by TEARS MUSIC and had their first live on December 16th at Meguro Rokumeikan. The band had many releases and concerts between 1998 and 1999 and managed to record two full-length album titled Terre and La luna at the same time. The albums were promoted by a succesful national tour titled -Terra- from June to October 1998.
In May 1999 BAISER went major under the Sony sublabel FOR-TUNE RECORDS and released the debut single Purizumu on the 21st. The song was chosen as the theme song of the Gokudo anime series. A major debut memorial concert at Shibuya Kōkaidō was planned for May 29th, but it was cancelled due to Katsura's health problems and eventually took place at Akasaka BLITZ on September 11th. The first major album 華 (Hana) was released in November.
In early 2000 BAISER released a single titled ペガサス (Pegasasu) and promoted it with a oneman live at Roppongi Y2K on May 19th. At the concert Yukari announced that he would start a solo side-project.
In the meantime Rei, Katsura and Shaisuke started a session unit called Swallowtail. The first concert took place on July 21st at Meguro Rokumeikan. Fans started to worry about the future of BAISER, and it was eventually announced that band would break up on January 5th 2001.

Aftermaths (2001 - 2006)

Right after BAISER disbanded, Yukari and Mizuki formed Endorphine. This new band had several releases and live appearances until December 2001, but suddenly stopped its activities and disappeared without any official announcement.
Swallowtail kept playing as a full-time band but disbanded after it was reported that Sahisuke had died in a bike accident on July 16th 2001. Katsura later joined Vinett and Cannival Method.
Yukari temporarily resurfaced from 2003 to 2005 as producer of RENTRER EN SOI. At this time, all the former members of BAISER seem to have retired from the music scene.
