Hiroshi Morie (森江博) also known as HEATH was a Japanese musician, best known for being the bassist of the legendary Visual Kei band X Japan, from 1992 as a replacement for bassist Taiji after his departure from the band, until the group's dissolution in 1997 and subsequently from 2007 to 2023. He would also have been bassist for bands such as Media Youth, Dope HEADz, among others, and since 1995 he had maintained a solo career.
Illness[]
Since the beginning of 2023, his health was reportedly deteriorated suddenly, prompting him to undergo medical examinations. In June 2023, he was finally diagnosed with late-stage colon cancer. Despite this, Heath did his best to treat his illness in secret until the time of his passing.
Death[]
Unfortunately, Heath lost his fight with cancer at the age of 55 on October 29, 2023, after his condition suddenly deteriorated; According to official sources, his last days were spent in the hospital.
The news of his death was announced on November 7 of that same year, however, it was announced without the consent of the bassist's family, who according to their wishes, had planned to wait a little longer before giving an official statement.
The official statement by X Japan was released 4 days later, on November 11, 2023. The band, among other details, announced that the bassist's funeral would be held privately with his family. The statement was also posted on Heath's official website, where each of the members of X Japan separately offered their condolences.
